First infant Mental Health Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa Dialogues in a Multidisciplinary Context

چکیده
Research in sub-Saharan Africa has highlighted poor child development outcomes associated with deprivation (see Lancet special edition on child development, 2007). Early intervention is required in order to facilitate positive, long-lasting treatment effects. However, as is the case in many developing countries, funding in South Africa focuses on decreasing HIV infection and infant mortality rates, as opposed to the promotion of infant mental health (IMH). High rates of HIV infection in sub-Saharan Africa continue to pose a threat to the well-being of infants born to HIV-infected mothers. Microbial Quality of Ready-to-Eat Street Vended Food Groups Sold in the Johannesburg Metropolis, South Africa
Background: In many developing countries, the risk of contracting a food-borne disease is high after consuming contaminated ready-to-eat Street-Vended Foods (SVFs). The main objective of this research was to assess the microbiological quality of SVF groups sold in the Johannesburg Metropolis, South Africa. Methods: A stratified random sampling procedure was used for collecting the ready-to-eat...

متن کاملHeterogeneous Functionalization of Polyethersulfone: A New Approach for pH-Responsive Microfiltration Membranes with Enhanced Antifouling Properties
In this work, 2,2’-azo-bis-butyronitrile (AIBN) was exploited as an initiator for the successful bulk heterogeneous functionalization of polyethersulfone (PES) using polymethacrylic acid (PMAA), for the first time. To this end, pH-responsive and exceptionally low fouling membranes of extremely low grafting degrees with low adhesion and high rejection of protein were fabricated. An added advanta...
متن کاملImpact of Carbon Nanotubes on the Polymeric Membrane for Oil – Water Separation
In this research, the classical phase inversion method was used to produce the polysulfone (PSF) membrane by using three different solvents: N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF), chloroform (CHCL3) and tetrahydrofuran (THF). Furthermore, different concentrations of functionalized multi – walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were added to PSF membranes by the classical phase inversion method...
